Overview
Fancy escaping the everyday? Leave your screens behind and swap them for a map and compass. Take on 30–35 miles of wild countryside, navigate your way through fun and unexpected challenges, and spend a night camping under the stars. Two days of freedom, fresh air and adventure with your team, finishing in the historic border town of Chepstow.
what is wolf pack?
Life can become a bit of a blur. Screen to screen, work to home, notifications to endless to-do lists. Before you know it, you've forgotten what it's like to properly switch off.
Wolf Pack is about getting back out there. Exploring wild places, pushing yourself beyond your comfort zone, figuring things out as a team and having a bloody good laugh along the way.
It's not about being the fastest, the fittest or the toughest. It's about the experience, the people you meet, the challenges you overcome and the stories you'll take home.
A proper adventure, minus the macho. A little bit ridiculous, a lot of fun, and a brilliant reminder of what life feels like when you step away from the everyday.
What is a survival race?
This isn't your usual walk in the countryside. You'll be navigating 30–35 miles of wild terrain over two days, using nothing but a map, compass and your own sense of direction.
Your mission is to find every checkpoint, but how you get there is up to you. At each checkpoint, you'll face a challenge; some psychological, some strategic, some lightly absurd. How well you tackle them will help determine your position on the leaderboard.
There are also optional secret challenges hidden along the way for teams looking to boost their score.
And there's a twist... You won't be given the whole route upfront. You'll have to earn the next section by completing the challenges. So you'll need to think on your feet, adapt your plans and stay one step ahead.
It's not just about who's fastest. Speed, strategy, teamwork and how you tackle the challenges all count.
You don't need to be an athlete. You do need grit, humour and a willingness to keep going.

what can i expect along the way?

1. The start – Where am I going?
You'll meet at a location on the outskirts of Bristol before jumping aboard the Wolf Pack coach. And this is where things get interesting... You'll be blindfolded and transported to a secret starting location. Once there, you'll receive your first checkpoint and be sent on your way. No sat nav, no Google Maps, just you, your map and compass!
2. Along the way – The adventure unfolds
Using public rights of way, you'll navigate your way across the countryside towards your first checkpoint. Complete the challenge and you'll receive the location of your next destination: the overnight campsite.
Once you arrive, it's time to pitch your tent, get some food cooking and take on the camp challenge. With that ticked off, you can take a well-earned breather, swap stories with other teams, share a few laughs and enjoy an evening around the campfire.
You'll find toilets and running water at the campsite, along with a supply of hot drinks and biscuits to keep spirits up. It's all part of the Wolf Pack experience!
The next morning, you'll receive the location of your next checkpoint and the adventure continues. New destination, new challenges and another day of navigating your way through the wilderness.
3. The finish – The final destination
You already know the finish line is somewhere in Chepstow, but exactly where? That remains a mystery until you've completed the final checkpoint.
Make your way there at your own pace. Whether you're racing for the podium or simply determined to make it to the end, crossing that finish line is what matters.
Every survivor earns their very own Wolf Pack Survivor Badge. It's your proof that you've taken on the challenge and made it to the other side!
4. The scoring – How to win
Once everyone's made it across the finish line, it's time for the number crunching. It's not simply about who gets there first. Your performance in the challenges counts too, so speed, strategy and teamwork all play their part.
We'll combine your times and challenge scores to create the final leaderboard, announce the winners and hand out the prizes.
Then it's time to head home. Jump on the Wolf Pack return coach (available as an optional extra when booking) or make your own way back. You've earned your freedom!
is this for me?
Never done anything like this before? Perfect. You don't need to be an experienced navigator, seasoned adventurer or ultra-fit athlete to take part. You just need a sense of adventure and a willingness to give it a go.
Fitness
30–35 miles over two days is no walk in the park. You'll need to be comfortable tackling a long hike, spending plenty of time on your feet and covering uneven ground while carrying your kit. You don't need to be an athlete, but a little preparation beforehand wouldn't hurt!
Navigation
Never used a map and compass? Don't let that put you off. We recommend giving it a go! Part of the fun is figuring things out as you go, learning new skills and working together to find your way.
Teams or going solo?
Wolf Pack is all about teamwork, but you don't need to arrive with a ready-made team. You can enter with your friends or partner, or sign up as an individual and we'll put you together with other solo adventurers. You might even make a few new friends along the way!
Either way, you start as individuals but finish as a team.
What will I need?
You'll need to carry your own kit, including a hiking backpack, tent, sleeping equipment and clothing for two days outdoors. You'll also need to bring your own food and a way to cook it. Teams can share the load, so there's no need for everyone to bring their own kitchen!
We'll send out a full kit list well ahead of the event, so you'll know exactly what you need before setting off.
If you're up for a challenge, enjoy the outdoors and don't mind things getting a little unpredictable, you'll fit right in with the Wolf Pack.
Still not sure if this is for you? Drop us an email at hello@wolfpackleague.co.uk and we'll be happy to help you decide if you're ready to join the Pack.
Adventure with peace of mind
You're here to escape the everyday, find your way through the countryside and take on whatever Wolf Pack throws at you. You'll be carrying your own kit, looking after yourself and making your own way across the countryside, but that doesn't mean you're on your own.
Behind the scenes, we've got the organisation and safety support in place so you can concentrate on the adventure, knowing there's a team looking out for you.
What's in place to support you:
A secret starting location: We'll transport you from the meeting point to the start of your adventure.
GPS tracking: Every team gets a GPS tracker so our event team can monitor their progress throughout the race.
Safety support: A dedicated member of our team oversees event safety, with volunteers stationed at every checkpoint.
Organised checkpoints and challenges: We'll provide all the locations, instructions and challenges you need to navigate your way through the weekend.
An overnight campsite: A designated stop along the route where you can pitch your tent, cook up some food and recharge for day two.
A Survivor Badge: Your well-earned badge to prove you've made it through the Pack!
Your phone stays with you for emergencies, but it'll be sealed away during the race. You'll need to carry your own tent, sleeping equipment, food and cooking gear – although your team can share the load.
You're responsible for getting yourself through the adventure. We'll make sure there's a team behind you every step of the way.

If we cancel: If Wolf Pack has to cancel before the race starts, you can choose a full refund, a place on a rescheduled date or credit towards another Wolf Pack race.
The weather: We're designed to go ahead in rough weather. Rain, mud, wind and general British nonsense are all part of the adventure. However, if conditions become genuinely unsafe, the Race Director may shorten, adapt, reroute or delay the race.
The campfire: We plan to have a campfire at camp, whatever the weather. Only a genuine safety reason, such as a fire ban or dangerous winds, would prevent it.
Photos and filming: The event may be photographed and filmed, and you may appear in the footage. If you'd strongly prefer not to, let us know and we'll do our best to keep you out of it.
Pocket money: Your phone will be sealed away and this is generally a no-money event. You may carry up to £10 for an emergency pick-me-up along the way.

What previous packers have said
"Completed exhausted but absolutely elated. Locking up my phone and navigating 30-plus miles of wild British landscape with nothing but a paper map, a compass, and a sense of humour is medicine for modern life. The checkpoint challenges are wonderfully absurd. The community with other teams on route and at the wild campsite is pure magic, and the support crew were exceptional. It is tough, you will be challenged, but the experience is hugely rewarding. If you want a real adventure that makes you feel human again, join the pack."
— Jo Bridle, Bristol to Glastonbury finisher, June 2026
"For anyone considering this Bristol to Glastonbury challenge, it is a demanding but deeply rewarding endurance experience. The incredible community spirit, especially the campfire and live singer at the campsite, and the stunning finish line make every single mile worth it."
— Elena F, Bristol to Glastonbury finisher, June 2026
"This could actually change your life. You'll go further than you thought possible. You'll say ‘I'm never doing this again’, and then the day after, ‘when are we going again?’. Just do it. If I can, so can you"
— Gareth Davis

Is your life constantly going from screen to screen? Do you ever feel like your body is slowly fossilising into your office chair? Has your comfort zone quietly become… a cage?
Time to use your senses. step out. Far out. We take you out of your comfort zone, drop you deep in a magical land of forest, rivers and ancient myth, and from there it is all on foot.
The BRISTOL TO WYE VALLEY Survival Race is a two-day, team-based endurance challenge through ancient woodland and deep river valleys, finishing at the historic border town of Chepstow.
You’ll meet early in central Bristol and board a coach.
Somewhere near the beginning of the journey, your phone is sealed away.
From that point on: no screens, no location pins, no checking where you are.
For the final stretch of the coach journey, you’ll be blindfolded.
When the coach stops and the blindfolds come off, you’ll step out into ancient forest with no idea where you are.
Your first challenge is simple… but not that easy
Work out where the hell you are.
89 racers are already booked. You do not need a complete team before booking. Secure your own place now and teammates can join you later. Solo entries are also welcome.
You won't be handed the whole race up front. Locations are disclosed in stages, and some things you'll have to find along the way. What you know at any moment is enough to make your next decision, and no more. Planning with incomplete information is part of the challenge.
At each checkpoint, your team faces a challenge. Some physical, some strategic, some lightly absurd. Do well and you earn time bonuses that improve your standing. Lose your heads and you'll pay for it later.
This is not a race the fittest team simply wins. An advantage is gained with brains, teamwork, and strategy as much as with legs. The teams who do well are the ones who stay together, think clearly, and make good decisions under pressure.
“I’ve trekked the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu, and the Secret Forest Race felt just as epic — challenging, meaningful, and genuinely unforgettable.”
Bristol to Wye Valley participant (2025)
The Route
You'll travel entirely on foot, navigating by map and compass.
Expect at least 30 miles over two days, a longer first day and a shorter second. Most teams walk more, and more again if they get lost. The route takes you through:
• Deep ancient woodland with twisting paths and shifting light
• Mossy forest floors, steep banks and sudden clearings
• River valleys and quiet crossings where kingfishers flash blue
• Borderland hills with long, unexpected views across the Wye
• Landscape that feels alive — threaded with deer paths and old human traces
The views arrive suddenly: a break in the trees, a high bend in the river, a moment of height after enclosure.
Wildlife is part of the experience. Deer are common. Boar move through the undergrowth. Birdsong, movement, and signs of life are everywhere if you're paying attention.
By Day 2, the forest loosens its grip and the Wye Valley opens out, wide, calm, and luminous. Your finish sits in Chepstow, on the border, surrounded by water, trees and light.
The Vibe
Think pilgrimage meets adventure race.
Like Duke of Edinburgh but for adults in a perpetual existential crisis. Bear Grylls meets Alan from The Hangover meets Wes Anderson.
A proper challenge, minus the macho, with a touch of analogue beauty.
You’ll laugh.
You’ll ache.
You might swear.
You might cry.
And when you reach the journey’s end, you’ll feel something you haven’t felt in a long time.
This is Wolf Pack.
A medicine for modern life.
A story you’ll tell for years.
The CAMP
By late afternoon on Day 1, you'll reach a secluded woodland campsite, your base for the night.
There'll be:
A shared campfire beneath the trees
Hot drinks through the afternoon, evening and morning: tea, coffee, hot chocolate, and biscuits by the fire
A low-key acoustic set that feels more campfire than concert
An evening briefing, and a briefing again before you set off on Day 2
Toilets, running water, and some limited cover if it rains
Stories, laughter, and darkness settling in properly
Bring your own tent or bivvy, and your own mug. Carry what you need. Sleep surrounded by trees that have watched centuries pass.
what you actually get
You navigate your own way through this, and the hard miles are yours to walk as a team.
But you are never doing it alone in the deeper sense.
At the start, at every checkpoint, at camp and the campfire, and at the finish, there is warmth waiting, a crew who look after you and other teams to share the experience with.
And should you ever genuinely need help out on the route, the crew are there to reach you.
This is not a country walk from A to B. It is a crafted expedition, the kind of adventure people cross the world for, built into a single weekend close to home.
You take on the challenge yourselves, and you are supported and kept safe at every point that matters.

TEAMS
Wolf Pack is a team event.
You navigate together, solve challenges together, make questionable decisions together, and finish together.
Teams can be 2–8 people. We recommend 3–5 people for the best mix of navigation, morale, decision-making and snack-based emotional support.
Individual sign-ups are very welcome. We’ll place you in a team with other solo racers — which is often how the best Wolf Pack stories start.
Minimum age: 18+
WHAT YOU’RE TAKING ON
This is hard, and we are not going to pretend otherwise. Two days on foot, at least 30 miles, navigating your own route, carrying everything you need, sleeping outside in October.
How hard it is depends a lot on the weather. Two crisp, dry days will be beautiful. Two days of wind and rain will test you to your limits. Both are part of the deal. Just as our ancestors could not wait for kinder weather, neither can you. The race goes ahead.
You do not need to be an athlete, but you do need to train and prepare properly. You carry all your own kit and food, and everything you need to survive a night outdoors. The kit list is mandatory and some of it takes time to get hold of, so read it early.

Weather. Wolf Pack is designed to go ahead in rough weather. Rain, mud, cold, wind, discomfort and general British nonsense are all part of the adventure. But this is not bravado for the sake of it. If conditions become genuinely unsafe, we may shorten, adapt, reroute, delay, postpone or cancel the event at the Race Director’s discretion.
The campfire. We commit to creating a proper camp atmosphere and prepare for all weathers, including dry wood and shelter wherever possible. Only a genuine safety reason, such as a fire ban or dangerous winds, would stop the campfire.
Filming. This event may be filmed and photographed for event documentation and promotion, and you may appear in the footage. If you would strongly prefer not to, let us know and we will do our best to keep you out of it, though in a live outdoor event we cannot guarantee it.
